My spam Karma is alive and well, how is yours?

Posted by plattapuss on December 19th, 2006

This blog is run on WordPress. As you can probably tell by the all too typical look that WordPress has. It seems that no matter what one does to a WordPress theme, it will still look like WordPress. Alas, that is not what this short is about.

All of my WordPress installations, about 5 last count, have Spam Karma 2 installed. Not wanting to clutter my theme any more than it already is, I have the outspoken 'This blog is protected by Spam Karma' turned off.

Well, tonight I was fed up of always logging in, checking Spam Karma and seeing only, well, spam, which I need to select and delete. So if you look way, way, way down on my blog, right at the very pointy bottom of the page, you will see that I now have the afore-mentioned 'This blog is protected by Spam Karma' turned on.

So comment spammers, you have been warned. Not that it will make a thread of difference, as most spam is submitted by robots anyhow.

If you run a blog and run it on WordPress, and you get a lot of comment spam, and don't want to use spam protection that is out of your control, like Askimet, then Karma 2 is just the thing for you. And a side word of note, I tried Bad Behaviour and found that most of the people that were good could not longer register on my site. So I got rid of it. Albeit a great little piece of software, it is just too paranoid for me.
